Although some patients requiring knee replacement surgery are between the ages of ten and forty, the typical patient is older. As in the case of hip replacements, a high priority for nursing care is postoperative mobility of the affected knee. This program addresses important issues in caring for patients undergoing knee replacement, discussing the balance that must be achieved between wound management and obtaining postoperative knee range of motion. It utilizes a critical care pathway approach to post-operative management.
