Marcellus Hall is an illustrator and musician who lives in New York City. He has created illustrations and music for over three decades for incredible outlets such as the New Yorker, The New York Times, and Matador Records. The film follows Marcellus’ journey from childhood through his adventures around the US before settling down in New York City. He also shares his reflections on the meaning of art, how he experimented with his style, and how creative outlets like drawing and making music helped him make sense of the chaos around him. Richly illustrated with Marcellus’ own creations, the film offers a unique window into a creative career and what to expect along the way.
