Twinings of London (04:05)


Thomas Twining bought a London coffee house in 1706 and added tea to the menu. In 1837, Queen Victoria granted the company a royal warrant; in 1956, it introduced teabags. The business established the world’s oldest in-use company logo and developed 400 varieties.

Jim Beam (04:26)

Jacob Beam sold his first barrel of whiskey in 1795; in 1920, his operation closed due to Prohibition. In 1934, the distillery was rebuilt and the company branded. In 1988, Booker Noe started aging product, triggering premium standards.

McIlhenny Company (05:32)

Edmund McIlhenny registered the Tabasco trademark in 1906; in 1927, his company redesigned the bottle. In 1994, the company expanded its product line and opened a museum in 2016.

Nikon (04:06)

Japan Optical Industries formed in 1917; in 1935, the JOICO microscope revolutionized optics technologies. Nikon released its first camera in 1948, renaming the company shortly after. It shifted focus to digital devices in 1997.

Citizen Watch (04:48)

Kamekichi Yamazaki founded the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1919; it produced its first timepiece in 1924. In 1930, the institution adopted the pocket watch’s name and became a commercial company. Citizen launched the world’s first shock proof wristwatch and the first electronic watch.
